Walkers Road Community and Facility Centre
Ernest Hilton, Treasurer

I have been the treasurer for 4 years. We are a social club for people aged between 60 and 100 years of age who live in the local area. I am 86 myself.

We arrange social evenings and weekends, outings, Bingo club, Luncheon Club and we put plays on. Our recent productions include: Wizard of Walkers Road and Cinderella, we are now producing Alice in Wonderland. All the actors are our members. Subscription is £1 per month per member. Socials and outings are free of charge. New members are always welcome.

We have used OCAS as our accountants since 2005 when we decided that we should have the accounts formally examined so that everyone could see where the money was going. We have been very satisfied with the service and will be using them again this year.

MS Society
John Attree, Regional Treasurer MS Society

As a new treasurer for the MS Society in Oldham and the North West Region, I received excellent training through an OCAS initiative that gave me a thorough understanding in carrying out my duties. In recent months I have had some top up training on the Quicken application which I am evaluating for suitability within my activities.

I fully recommend the financial training course for both new and existing treasurers or anyone who needs to be aware of the financial obligations placed on charities. The OCAS staff are extremely helpful in dealing with all queries in a friendly and efficient manner.

Philomena Godfrey, Treasurer

Members of our support group have had no previous financial or accounting experience. Yet, with the support of OCAS we have been able to use Quicken software to set up and manage our accounts. With OCAS support we have also been able to produce the end of year accounts

Fatima Women's Association
Uzma Khaliq

I have worked as a Finance Officer at Fatima Women's Association for about 5 years now. The association provides and assists in the provision of Training, Educational Courses, Recreation and Leisure Facilities. We also meet our aims through the employment of staff, the development of partnerships with other agencies and through the use of volunteers. The progression of my financial skills over the past 2 to 3 years has been very encouraging, rewarding and extremely positive. Through the ongoing training and support provided by Lorna Phillips and her wonderful staff I have managed to progress from a manual book keeping system to Quicken and presently I am working on the Sage Instant Accounts package. The team at OCAS have always met my financial training needs which are tailored to meet the associations requirements. This has not only benefited the association but it has provided me with lifelong skills that I can take with me in my career path. The other aspect of my post is to Fundraise to run various projects at FWA. The experience and skills I have gained on a financial basis has proved to the various organisations funding FWA that we have strict and up to date financial control on spending. On behalf of the Management Committee and staff at FWA I would like to extend our appreciation and a big thank you, to all members of staff at OCAS for their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm for their consistent and loyal support.

Voluntary Action Oldham
Berni Taylor and Lynn Taylor

The Finance Team at Voluntary Action Oldham, Bernie Taylor, Lynn Taylor and Amanda Broadbent, were keen to update their accounts systems to a more efficient computerised one, they chose SAGE. Lorna has worked very closely with them and has given essential guidance and support in customising their package. Great progress has been made and the team is looking forward to a streamlined new financial year. Thank you OCAS!

Brook Advisory Centre Oldham
Christine Simmister

Through Lorna's help and encouragement in setting up Sage, Christine, the Finance Officer, has gone on to do AAT Intermediate at Oldham College. Jane, who is the Centre Manager, needed to produce management reports which monitor the budgets for the many projects within Brook Advisory Centre. The system is now working well.
