These examinations help satisfy or meet the requirements of your members, funders or other stakeholders. Unless your constitution says that you must have a full audit, most funders are very happy to accept independently examined accounts. Even if your funders say that want audited accounts, it is always worth clarifying this. |
An increasing number of community organisations are using our Independent Examination Service given the inexpensive and valuable service it provides. Bring your accounting records in as soon as possible after your year end date, but in any event within three months of your end of year. This will ensure that you have a full set of accounts to produce at your Annual General Meeting- which should take place no later than 9 months after your year end.
We require at least 6 weeks to produce a set of accounts.
Apart from the legal requirement to present a signed set of accounts at the Annual General Meeting, it is very important that the management board of any organisation assesses the impact of their work over the previous 12 months.
It is the Treasurer's responsibility to produce all necessary reports for the management committee. OCAS can provide all the support you need to keep good bookkeeping records. This will enable you to produce your own End of Year Accounts, reducing the costs incurred in an examination of your accounts.
